In 2019, the City adopted a Non Transient Rental Inspection Program. The purpose of this program is to ensure all nontransient rentals comply with minimum property maintenance requirements, to preserve the City's housing stock, to encourage proactive and preventive maintenance of properties, to protect vulnerable tenants, and to promote the health, safety, and welfare of the people of Avalon.
There is no fee for any initial inspections of nontransient rentals. If an owner fails the initial inspection there is no fee for a follow up inspection; however, if the property/owner continues to fail inspections, there is a fee for the third and all subsequent inspections.
To request a property inspection, please contact the Planning & Building Department.
The scope and terms of the program are outlined in the City's Municipal Code.
