Code Enforcement
Code Enforcement is the process by which the City of Avalon ensures compliance with the laws and regulations established in the Avalon Municipal Code (AMC). Code Enforcement Officers, in cooperation with the Avalon Fire Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department work to promote and protect public peace, health and safety.

Complaint Process
The handling of complaints is prioritized based on the nature of the alleged violations. Highest priority is given to impact on public health and safety. Due to the nature of some allegations, Code Enforcement Officers may refuse to provide updates regarding complaints.

Citation Report - April 2023
Vehicle Citations: 348 Citations written.*
Red Tag Warnings: 5 warning tags issued for illegal dumping, animal noise, trash cans without lids, illegal disposal of cooking oil and other misc. warnings.
Bike Removals: 5bikes removed rom various locations.
Construction: 2 verbal "stop work" orders issued.
Online Public Nuisance Forms - 2 submitted.

Animal Control Report - April 2023
- Issued one administrative citations for an Animal at Large.
- Responded to 5 calls for removal of dead animals (includes cats, birds, and deer).
- Assisted the Avalon Humane Society to find new owners for 2 dogs.
Animal Control Report - March 2023
- Investigated an animal for a bite report. Victim and victim family refused to assist with investigation. Case is closed.
- Issued one administrative citations for an Animal at Large.
- Responded to 15 calls for removal of dead animals (includes cats, birds, and deer).

- Issued two administrative citations for an Animal at Large.
